Designed by Gaudi for his benefactor, industrialist Eusebi Guell and built between 1886 and 1888, the Palau Guell is a chance to experience the complete ‘Gaudi’ package.
The ground floor was designed so a horse and carrige could enter through the gates into the building, where the animal would go down a ramp to the grotto like stables. The guests would then climb the main stairway to the heart of the building, a fabulous entertaining room.
The tour of the house is literally from bottom to top, finishing on the roof terraace and on the bedroon level there is a permenant exhibition of furniture, some pieces actually used by the Guell family and others on loan from Barcelona Council
